Darren Bent believes reported Liverpool target Adam Wharton will emerge as the Premier League’s best young player during the 2024-25 campaign.
The young midfielder has impressed since swapping Blackburn Rovers for Crystal Palace for a fee believed to be in the region of £22m and was also part of the England squad for Euro 2024, although he failed to play a single minute for the Three Lions.
Wharton was reportedly scouted by Liverpool earlier this summer and the 20-year-old is valued at around £60m despite moving to the Premier League just six months ago.
Palace have been playing some good football under Oliver Glasner and Darren Bent believes Wharton could enhance his reputation in the forthcoming Premier League season.
Darren Bent tips Adam Wharton for big things

As one of the pundits for the Premier League ahead of the new season, Bent has picked Wharton as someone who can emerge as the best young player in the division.
Wharton has just half a season of top-flight experience but the midfielder has already turned heads with his performances for Palace.
He joined the Eagles from Blackburn Rovers last January but quickly established himself as a first-team regular.
Wharton is now set to be a key player at Palace this season if, indeed, Oliver Glasner’s side are able to keep hold of him.
Liverpool could move for Wharton in the future
Jamie Carragher showered Wharton with high praise last season after his performance against Liverpool as Palace secured a 1-0 win at Anfield in mid-April.
Eberechi Eze scored the solitary goal of that game, but it was Wharton who stole the show, with the 20-year-old dictating play from the centre of the park.
Liverpool have failed with a move for Martin Zubimendi as the Spaniard opted to remain at Real Sociedad for the forthcoming season.
It means that Slot’s side are still on the hunt for a central midfielder this summer and with Wharton being scouted by Liverpool’s recruitment team, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the links did spark up again soon.
