Darren Bent has question Tottenham’s reported pursuit of Southampton enforcer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is close to completing a move to north London.
According to the Telegraph, the defensive midfielder is close to joining Spurs in a £15million deal and it’s expected to be finalised in the next few days.
The report explained that Kyle Walker-Peters could be heading the other direction from Spurs to Southampton.
With Jose Mourinho’s side closing in on their first summer signing, they are set to bring in a midfield warrior that is strong in his tackles and composed in possession too.
The 25-year-old Dane has captained Southampton at St Mary’s before deciding to exit and has the experience of 109 Premier League appearances.
Ex-Spurs forward Bent isn’t convinced though by the potential signing and doesn’t feel he’s a signing to get people off their feet.
“It looks like Spurs are going to sign Hojbjerg from Southampton, this is one for me that I don’t quite get,” Bent told talkSPORT2.
“I think he’s a good player but can he take Spurs to the next level? I don’t think he can. I think Spurs fans will like him because he works hard, don’t think they’ll be excited by it but they’ll understand it.”

TBR’s View:
Hojbjerg may not be the most pleasing individual on the eye, but he looks like someone that can slot into Mourinho’s team nicely and help provide some cover in front of the back four.
He’s got Premier League know-how that should help him hit the ground running and his £15million cost looks a snip in the current market.
It’s a deal that could end up proving plenty of people wrong, as on paper it looks a classic Mourinho signing and it should allow what is an extremely talented frontline to flourish.
