Darren Bent took to Twitter at half-time of Monday’s clash to suggest that Liverpool really miss Sadio Mane as their lacklustre start to the new campaign continued.
The Reds would have known that their trip to Old Trafford would not be easy.

Manchester United needed to produce a reaction after their shocking performance at Brentford. And Jurgen Klopp’s side have not been at their best either.
And it proved to be the home side who got off to a flyer. Liverpool went into the break 1-0 down. And they were perhaps lucky to not be losing by more.

The visitors did improve as the game went on. But they struggled to test David De Gea. And their brighter moments often came to nothing.
It is a worry for Liverpool. They look a long way from the side who, along with Manchester City, have been head and shoulders above the rest in the Premier League over the last few years.
Of course, a key difference is that Liverpool have now sold one of their most important players of the Klopp era. Sadio Mane left Anfield after six years in the summer.
And Bent claimed that his departure is hurting Liverpool a lot more than many would like to admit…
Liverpool miss Sadio Mane
Obviously, Mane’s absence is not the only issue. Bent notes that they are also dealing with a number of injuries. And Darwin Nunez was suspended for the game.
However, something really is not working for Liverpool right now. And there must surely be concerns on Merseyside regarding when it is all going to come together for the Reds.
