Darren Bent insists that Christian Eriksen will be a colossal miss for Tottenham if he exits the club.
The 27-year-old does appear to be heading for the exit doors in the near future, as his Spurs contract expires in the summer.
But Italian club Inter Milan are reportedly chasing his signature in January and have made a second offer for him.
The Daily Mail previously claimed that the Serie A giants had a £10.5million bid for the Denmark international knocked back and were informed Spurs were looking for at least £20million.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla on his official website, Inter have now made a second offer worth around £12.8million plus bonuses for him.
Ex-Spurs forward Bent has discussed the size of the hole that Eriksen will leave in the Spurs team and feels they will need to sign a replacement.
“He’s going to be a big miss for Spurs because there have been times this season where they have struggled for creativity, he’s come off the bench and changed the game around. They are going to have to find someone to replace him,” Bent told Sky Sports’ The Debate Show (15 January).
“I know this season his heads been turned a little bit, he’s become frustrated because he wants to leave yet he’s still having to play.”
Eriksen has developed into a world-class talent since he joined Spurs in 2013 and has turned out to be an £11.5million bargain (BBC).
The attacking midfielder hasn’t been at his dazzling best this campaign and many feel that he already has one eye on leaving.
He’s played 26 games across all competitions this campaign, managing just three goals and three assists in return.
The creative playmaker has shown that he’s still capable of much more and aged 27 should be entering the peak years of his career.
Jose Mourinho should consider offloading him this month to Inter if his heart is no longer in Spurs, as he will only leave on a free transfer in the summer anyway.
