Darren Bent and Gary Lineker praise Liverpool star Diogo Jota on Twitter

Liverpool were in superb form on Tuesday night to thrash Atalanta 5-0 away from home, which puts them firmly in the driving seat to qualify to the Champions League knockout rounds.

The Reds have maintained their 100 per cent winning start in their group after three games and they flexed their attacking muscles in midweek in Italy.

Diogo Jota, 23, continued his stunning start to life on Merseyside by scoring a hat-trick, meaning he’s now got seven goals in just 10 appearances since his transfer arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The rapid Portuguese attacker slotted into the front three in a central area instead of Roberto Firmino and he’s surely given manager Jurgen Klopp a major selection headache ahead of the weekend’s Premier League fixture against Manchester City.

Pundist Darren Bent and Gary Lineker were both left in awe of the forward’s European performance for Liverpool.

“Please tell me how Liverpool got a free hit on Diogo Jota what a player he is, sharp exciting, ruthless, hungry,” Bent wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“What a tremendous signing Jota is proving to be. Another lovely finish. Wouldn’t have thought you could  improve Liverpool’s front three, but…” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Jota proved during his time with Wolves that when he’s on red-hot form he can be a serious handful and that he comes alive around the penalty box, which is why Liverpool signed him in the summer window in a deal that could total £45million (Sky Sports).

His task now is to try find that consistency over the course of the season and it’s remarkable how quickly he appears to have settled at Anfield.

Klopp finally has a young exciting attacker that is going to put pressure on his front three of Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, with the former looking the most likely to drop out of the XI like he did against Atalanta.
