Darren Ambrose wants Tottenham to sign Josko Gvardiol

Tottenham Hotspur fan and talkSPORT pundit Darren Ambrose believes Spurs should go all out to sign Josko Gvardiol in 2023.

The Croatian was one of the standout performers at the World Cup in Qatar. He was sensational throughout the campaign – even in the third-place play-off this afternoon, where he scored.

Ambrose believes he’d be perfect for Tottenham.

Darren Ambrose wants Tottenham to sign Josko Gvardiol

Even though Gvardiol was exceptional throughout the World Cup, the one moment that made all the headlines was his mistake against Argentina in the semi-final.

The 20-year-old came up against Lionel Messi and the PSG superstar humiliated him. Gvardiol ‘was taken to the cleaners,’ claimed Alan Smith on commentary, and he wasn’t wrong.

That was his only mistake in the whole tournament, and Ambrose has been really impressed with his performances. He wants Spurs to sign him in 2023.

The pundit said on talkSPORT: “Gvardiol – he’s only 20!

“There’s a clip that goes around, Argentina vs Croatia, he gets drawn out, that’s the only mistake he makes. But he’s done everything right, everything a coach will tell a defender against Messi, he did everything right. It’s just unlucky that it was against one of the best players that has ever played.

“Other than that, he has been a sensation. I look at where he plays and then I look at my team – Spurs – what they need, they need another centre-half. I’ll be going all out to get this guy.”

TBR View:

Gvardiol really is a sensational young defender.

Still only 20, he has the world at his feet, and the fact that he is already so good makes him an extremely attractive option for many clubs in the world.

Spurs have been looking for a left-sided defender for a while now. Alessandro Bastoni was heavily linked last summer, but we feel Gvardiol would be an even better signing than the Italian.

However, after his phenomenal performances at the World Cup, we’re sure plenty of other top clubs will try to sign him, which could complicate things for Tottenham.
