Peterborough United chief, Darragh MacAnthony, has admitted that Fulham wanted to sign Ivan Toney last year, with the Brentford ace now linked with West Ham.
Eurosport claimed this week that Toney is on the radar for the Hammers. It comes after Toney has rifled in over 20 goals already this season, including another last night in the clash with Reading.
Toney moved to Brentford in the summer for a hefty fee, continuing the Posh’s fine tradition of making big money on players in the market.
However, things may have been different it seems, with MacAnthony admitting Fulham wanted to land Toney, and Cottagers chief Tony Khan then confirming his club were interested.
To be fair, Fulham manager wanted him 👍🏻 https://t.co/Vd0JZ4Tugy

Fulham owner Khan then responded to the thread, confirming he did indeed want to sign Toney and that he still likes him as a player.
I did like him a lot, I still do, and I was the one who brought him up in the meetings (the General Manager, not the manager).

Fulham are clinging on to their Premier League position at the moment but remain in a tough position to ensure they stay in the top-flight.
However, should they manage to stay up, Khan’s comments suggest Toney could remain on the radar, especially if Brentford themselves don’t manage to win promotion.
TBR View: Toney could have been a difference maker for Fulham, it’s a big shame
Khan says in his replies he doesn’t regret the decision but it must sting a little bit to sit back and watch how well the forward is doing.
Toney looks every bit the Premier League player. His movement, finishing, and work ethic are all top notch and it’s only a matter of time before he gets a look in at the top level.
