Danny Welbeck’s wage demands are reportedly damaging his hopes of finding a new team this summer. According to a report from The Sun, the England international wants a weekly wage of £100,000-a-week and a signing on fee of £5 million.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United attacker became a free agent this summer when his contract at The Emirates expired.
He was immediately linked with a host of Premier League teams, including Everton.

In fact, as reported by the London Evening Standard in May, Everton were in ‘pole position’ to sign the player this summer. That report claimed that Everton were in fact willing to pay more than the £100,000-a-week in order to secure his signature. That clearly is not the case.
If indeed Everton are being put off by those wage demands, they are right to be.
Welbeck is a very talented footballer but his recent injury record is concerning.
The 28-year-old broke his ankle in November and suffered severe knee trouble earlier in his Arsenal career.
For Everton, or any club, to pay such a large sum to the player considering his propensity for getting injured would signify a huge risk.
At a reduced fee, Everton would be right to bring in the striker this summer. But at the current asking price, the Toffees should certainly move on.
