Newcastle United should consider joining the reported hunt for Arsenal centre-forward Danny Welbeck in the New Year.
According to the Sun, Crystal Palace are weighing up a £10million bid for the Premier League striker in the January transfer window.
The report details that Arsenal are prepared to listen to offers in January, as his contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in the summer.
Newcastle should try rival Palace for Welbeck’s signature and he could turn out to be a bargain for a fee of just £10million.
Rafael Benitez’s side have hardly splashed the cash in recent years in bringing top talents to St James’ Park, but the Arsenal ace could be a decent signing for a fairly cheap price.
Welbeck has scored five goals in just 13 appearances so far for the Gunners, which is an impressive return considering he’s been on the fringes of the squad and started just one Premier League match.
The England international has proven he can score goals at European level and has excellent know-how in the top flight.
Newcastle are crying out for more goalscorers in their ranks and Welbeck could certainly help the team steer away from relegation trouble.
The 27-year-old is now entering the peak years of his career and needs to find a club where he can cement a starting spot, which is why St James’ Park could be ideal.
