Danny Rose hailed the ability of his Newcastle United teammate Allan Saint-Maximin, while insisting he’s one of the best players he’s ever seen in one-on-one situations.

Rose only arrived at St James’ Park back in January on loan for the rest of the season and he’s slotted into the left-back role in Steve Bruce’s XI.

Saint-Maximin is the recognised left-winger that has bene playing in front of him and he’s considered to be a massive fan favourite at the club.

The 23-year-old Frenchman is a speed machine that gets fans excited with his pace and the way he loves to dribble at opponents.

He’s scored three goals and managed four assists in 21 games across all competitions so far at Newcastle, but has had to deal with injury problems and perhaps the best is yet to come from him.

“I first watched him when [Newcastle] played Man City at home and he was up against Kyle Walker, for me Kyle is the best in the league and Maximin gave him a bit of a difficult time,” Rose told NUTV.

“Now getting train with him and play with him week in week out I can see why the fans love him. In a one-on-one situation he’s probably one of the best I’ve come across. Now he’s adding goals to his game so I’m over the moon for him and it’s a privilege to play with him.”

TBR’s View:

Newcastle may base their game around a solid defence and have very little flair going forward, but in Saint-Maximin they have an outstanding individual that makes things happen whenever he has the ball.

He has got the ability to carry his team 50 yards up the pitch with a surging run and there is so much potential for him to become a top-class player if he becomes more clinical in the final third.

He is still aged just 23 and is adapting to his first year in the Premier League, so he’s certainly someone to watch out for moving forward.
