Danny Murphy says Liverpool would take Harry Kane over Roberto Firmino
Former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has been comparing the merits of Roberto Firmino and Harry Kane.
He said of Kane: “He’s certainly capable of playing in any team in the world. He has the lot already. He is the finished article. He has a strong mentality. Physically very good, and when he’s fit and at it, he is one of the best. I think he has a big decision to make.
“If Kane were to be in City or Liverpool’s team they aren’t going to be any weaker, are they? No. He could play instead of Aguero. And I think you would take him ahead of Firmino. I don’t want that to underestimate Firmino’s importance to Liverpool, but if you were Jurgen Klopp and you said you can have Kane? He’d score more goals.”
TBR’s View – Kane is better in goalscoring terms but Firmino’s unselfishness is vital
Having Kane in Liverpool’s side would require a reformatting of the forward line. At Anfield, Salah has the selfish eye for goal that Kane brings to Tottenham, and Firmino’s unselfish running and pressing is invaluable.
Without him dropping deep and doing work off the ball, Salah and Sadio Mane would not have the direct route to goal they currently have.
