Liverpool remain the only Premier League side yet to sign a player this summer and it remains to be seen if that changes before the transfer deadline.
Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Anfield, while a deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United broke down as the Magpies pulled the plug on it at the last moment.
Liverpool could rekindle a move for Gordon before the transfer deadline, but there is a growing possibility of the transfer window slamming shut without a single incoming at Anfield.
That said, Liverpool are in talks to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili but the Georgian goalkeeper is likely to spend the current season on loan at Valencia if the transfer goes through.
And Danny Murphy believes Mamardashvili’s impending arrival could have implications for Alisson Becker’s future.
Danny Murphy on Liverpool’s Giorgi Mamardashvili links

Murphy is clearly a huge fan of the Georgian goalkeeper, who he believes was incredible at Euro 2024 for Georgia.
However, with Alisson still at the club, Murphy suggests Alisson could have indicated to the club that his long-term future may lie away from Anfield.
“They’re planning ahead, aren’t they?” Murphy said on talkSPORT.
“I don’t know what’s going on with Alisson or what conversations he’s had with the club, but it seems like they’re being proactive in finding his replacement.
“Mamardashvili was in incredible form in the Euros. I think it’s a great bit of business to get him in now but it’s a bit surprising to bring a keeper in now who’ll play in three years time, so maybe there’s been something from Alisson?”
What Mamardashvili’s arrival could mean for Alisson Becker
As mentioned earlier, Mamardashvili is likely to spend the 2024-25 season on loan at Valencia.
The Georgian is viewed as Alisson’s long-term successor and is just 23 years old, indicating that he has his whole career ahead of him to become Liverpool’s number-one goalkeeper.
Alisson is tied down at Anfield until the summer of 2027, indicating that he’s going nowhere at least for the time being.
Liverpool have seen a market opportunity with Mamardashvili and are looking to snap him up with one eye on the future.
If he were to arrive at the club next season initially as a backup, he could learn the ropes from one of the best in the business before taking over as the main man between the sticks after the Brazilian’s departure.
