Danny Murphy has told Match of the Day 2 that Trent Alexander-Arnold looked to be back to his best in Liverpool’s victory over Sheffield United on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were able to score twice in the second-half to secure the three points at Bramall Lane. It was an important victory for the champions with the Blades once again showing plenty of fight and spirit.

Liverpool however, had the quality to hurt Chris Wilder’s side. And Alexander-Arnold was one of those to make a real difference.
The 22-year-old – who earns £75,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – featured at right-back. However, he seemed to take on more of a roaming role. He seemed to be everywhere throughout the game.

And it was Alexander-Arnold who played a key role in the opening goal. It was his cross that subsequently found its way to Curtis Jones, who then found the bottom corner.
And Murphy suggested that the youngster looked a lot more like his old self in the win.
“Back to his best today. He has [had a difficult season]. Of course, when you set your standards really high, winning things, playing well, winning games, assists every week; you have a bad run, you’re going to be up there to be criticised,” he told Match of the Day 2.
“But he’s bounced back well. I thought his performance in the Merseyside derby was really good. He looked back to his best. Today as well, the crossing, the passing, what we’re used to seeing from him. Defensively, he didn’t have that much to do. But what he did have to do, he did well.”
Alexander-Arnold’s form does appear to have turned a corner in recent weeks. And it did seem that many of his critics had forgotten his age and the yardstick he had set for himself when he was struggling.
It would be unreasonable to expect the academy graduate’s form to never dip. Not only is he still developing his own game, but he is also having to deal with playing alongside a different centre-back pairing on a regular basis.
The good news for Liverpool is he certainly appears to be getting back on track.
