Former England and Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has been discussing the upcoming Premier League season and has highlighted the seven players to keep an eye out for the upcoming campaign.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Murphy highlighted fairly obvious options such as Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden, but also mentioned more unique suggestions such as Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie and Leeds United talent Kalvin Phillips.
The latter has certainly impressed for Leeds in recent times and was a key player in the club’s promotion-winning season last term.

That form saw him earn a first call-up to the England team this month and Murphy is clearly of the belief that Phillips can have an impact in the Premier League.
“I played at the base of midfield for a good part of my career so I appreciate the job he does for Leeds protecting the defence but then having the vision to start attacks going the other way,” Murphy commented. “What I like about Phillips is his ability to sense danger so he can react and intervene before his side are under pressure. Not everyone asked to play holding midfield has that.”
Murphy has previously been full of praise for Phillips before so his words will come as no surprise.
Leeds United fans are also well aware that for them to thrive in the Premier League, Phillips will need to be at his best.
But there is no doubt that there will be some pressure on Phillips this season, with plenty of eyes on his performances amid the hype from his form last term and his England call up.
Hopefully, Phillips can go on to have as impressive a Premier League career as Murphy once did.
