BBC pundit Danny Murphy expects James Maddison to trade Leicester City for Manchester United – if the Red Devils pay enough.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed Harry Maguire from the King Power Stadium last summer and Murphy expects Maddison to make the same move if United make a suitable offer.
He told Sky Sports: “You cannot tell me there’s a young English footballer at Leicester who will turn down United. Not gonna happen. If United come in for James Maddison, and pay enough, he’s gone.
“United are a big enough… I’m not a United fan, but they still have the draw. To play at Old Trafford, Theatre of Dreams, rather than the King Power Stadium, irrelevant of league position, he’s gone.”
TBR’s View – Why would Maddison trade the good thing he has going at Leicester?
Leicester are far and away the second best team in the Premier League right now, while United have struggled to get close to the top four for much of the season.
Why would Maddison make that trade? Maguire did it and has found his form under more intense scrutiny and has struggled to improve United’s backline.
United are a massive club but perhaps their draw is more historic – for players of Murphy’s generation – than Maddison’s. Leicester will hope that’s the case anyway.
