Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has thrown his backing behind a late Reds swoop for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.
The Merseyside giants have become linked with the Potters star in recent days, following the concerning performance of Adrian against Aston Villa before the international break.

The perception of the Spaniard at Anfield is not particularly great right now, and the Mirror recently claimed that Butland could be of interest for the Reds.
The star, now 27, has been away from the Premier League for a couple of years, but has made 77 top-flight appearances.
He also has nine caps for England.
In the eyes of Murphy, Liverpool should be trying to do what they can to get Butland – who cost Stoke £3.5 million from Birmingham City back in 2013 (BBC Sport) – in before tomorrow’s domestic transfer deadline.

When asked on the Football Index podcast (15:15-16:25) if he felt Butland would be a good addition, he said: “I quite like the thought of that, yes.
“He is trying to find himself again after a really good start to his career when he was being spoken about as potentially England’s first-choice goalkeeper. He fell by the wayside a little bit.
“This might be a tremendous opportunity for him to go to a wonderful club, learn from a brilliant goalkeeper, regain some confidence, play some games, and start again. That makes sense to me – I think signing Jack Butland would be a clever bit of business.”
TBR’s View – It depends on price
Butland could be worth a punt by Liverpool for the right price.

And one has to imagine he would not be too expensive, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2021.
Adrian’s tendency to make errors leading to goals is a big concern, and Liverpool may wish to take action before the domestic deadline slams shut.
