Danny Ings has told The Telegraph that he is humbled amid recent reports from the Daily Mail suggesting that he is in line for a new contract at Southampton.
Ings is currently training with the England squad after being rewarded for an outstanding season. He scored 22 goals in the Premier League to come agonisingly close to winning the Golden Boot.

A return to international duty is seemingly not the only reward on offer for Ings. The Daily Mail reported last week that the Saints are looking to agree new long-term deal with the striker with his £65,000-a-week contract having less than two years left to run.
Saints fans will probably only relax completely once talks have concluded. But Ings has perhaps provided them with reason for optimism as he commented on the reports.

“I have just read the same as what you probably have,” he told The Telegraph when asked about the reports. “I’m extremely humbled that the club value me. I don’t know what the next step is. I don’t know what the club’s intentions are. But the fact they value me makes me feel good.”

Ings’s comments certainly seem to put the onus on Southampton to make sure that he pens a contract extension.
It would appear that he is ready to stay if the various terms are right. Not only will he probably want a financial package that reflects the impact he has made, but perhaps he will also seek assurances regarding Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans.
He touches upon the club’s intentions. That would perhaps suggest that he is looking for clarity over the direction they plan to travel in in the coming years.
But with Hasenhuttl’s side making enormous strides last season, the Saints should arguably not struggle to get their vision across to their star striker.
