Danny Higginbotham has suggested that Leeds United defender Ben White could be an option for England next summer at Euro 2021 and has raved about his ability.
The 22-year-old has been a huge hit at Elland Road during his season-long loan from Premier League club Brighton and arguably been the standout centre-back in the Championship.
He’s become a key player in the heart of defence for Marcelo Bielsa’s team, as he’s so composed in possession to play out from the back and is also a colossus that puts his body on the line.
White has dropped into midfield on the rare occasions that Kalvin Phillips has been missing too and looks a major talent destined for the top-flight.
Higginbotham, who works as a pundit, believes that the Leeds enforcer is special on the ball and is a big fan of his.
“One of the biggest compliments I can give White is that I don’t know how quick he is because he is rarely out of position and forced to step up a gear,” Higginbotham told the Sun.
“That is the case with all top centre-backs and he is well on his way to being that. His range of passing with both feet and his ability to step out of the line is also special.
Leeds were unsure last summer on how they would replace Pontus Jansson, but the loan signing of White has been a masterstroke and he’s played a big role in the Yorkshire club sit top of the Championship table.
He’s got a great understanding next to club captain Liam Cooper in the heart of defence and they have a brilliant understanding.
Brighton have a big decision to make over in the summer, as they could surely integrate him to their team or sell him on for big money.
