Danny Cowley makes promotion prediction concerning Leeds

In comments reported by Leeds Live, Danny Cowley has predicted that Leeds United will be promoted this season after watching Marcelo Bielsa’s men beat his side 2-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Leeds have returned to the top of the Championship after a hard-fought win. Huddersfield were the better side during the first-half and were denied by a brilliant save from Kiko Casilla.

But the Whites were much better after the break. Gjanni Alioski put Leeds in front shortly after the interval after a wonderful volley from the edge of the box.

And Leeds would seal the victory late on. The visitors launched a rapid counter attack before Jack Harrison produced an outstanding cross for Pablo Hernandez.

The Spaniard headed home to ensure that Leeds would move back above West Bromwich Albion ahead of their game against Swansea City on Sunday.

With Fulham losing later in the day, the Whites are now eight points clear of the chasing pack. And Cowley suggested that he cannot see Leeds not going up this time around.

“They won’t fall short this season,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live. “Bielsa is an intelligent manager. He understands the league better and the mistakes of last year. He’s got a team now, continuity. You look at this team. He’s got them on remote control.”

Leeds are four points better off than they were at this stage last season. And the old cliche suggests that they are playing like champions as they continue to win while not producing their best football.

They appear to be much tougher to break down this year. And, worryingly for their rivals, they are still producing moments of real quality when they do get into the final third.
