Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has posted an exciting update on Instagram confirming that he has returned to training following a knee injury that he sustained in pre-season – and Daniel Sturridge has responded.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 27, is fighting to be fit once again as he struggles to shake the tag of being somewhat injury prone. The Liverpool star has only managed 87 appearances for the Reds since joining in the summer of 2017, due to injuries.
Jurgen Klopp does have options in attacking midfield – though Naby Keita has struggled for consistent form, while Curtis Jones is still learning the ropes. Gini Wijnaldum has been excellent for the Reds, but Klopp needs another option.
Now, England international Oxlade-Chamberlain could now provide his manager with an extra option in the engine room. He told fans on Instagram that he is back in training – and could now look to return to action in the coming weeks.
Liverpool have maintained a brilliant start to the season despite a huge number of injuries that have seen Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Thiago all spend lengthy spells on the sidelines.
With £40million (Guardian) Oxlade-Chamberlain’s update coming as good news to both Liverpool and England supporters, Sturridge responded to his post a with a two-word comment.
