In order to reach the next level, Tottenham Hotspur must break their wage structure at some point.
Compared to the other clubs that Spurs are competing with, their players are being paid relatively low wages.
And this is something that needs to be addressed as Tottenham look to tie Christian Eriksen down to a new contract.
Eriksen is happy to stay in North London but he wants a major wage jump.
The Denmark international currently earns £60k-per-week. But he wants to up his wage to £160,000k-per-week if he is to stay at Tottenham amid interest from Real Madrid and PSG.

Eriksen is worth this wage. At some point, Spurs will need to break their wage structure and reward their best players with the money that they would be paid at another top European club.
And Eriksen should be the first player to be given the hefty pay hike. Then others like Harry Kane and Dele Alli need deals that reflect Spurs’ hopes of becoming a powerhouse in Europe.
Spurs owner Daniel Levy is notoriously parsimonious but he risks losing Eriksen if he does not meet his demands.
The 26-year-old is vital to Spurs’ success and he could play a key role as they embark on a new venture.
With the new stadium and fans expecting silverware, Eriksen can be the main man in a new Spurs era.
