Celtic midfielder Daniel Arzani is finally approaching his return to action. The youngster, who is on loan from Manchester City, has been sidelined for 10 months with an ACL injury.
He penned a two-year loan deal with Celtic to aid his development but he has been out since last November. He suffered an ACL injury on his debut against Dundee. This has ruled him out ever since.
Arzani is stepping up his recovery and he will get his first game time since November in a reserve match. Neil Lennon has confirmed that Arzani will play 40 minutes for the reserves but added that it will take some time before he is back in first-team contention.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Lennon said: “Daniel’s nearly fit. He will get 40 minutes in that and needs match fitness before coming into the squad.”
It will still be quite a while before Arzani will be ready to play in the Celtic first-team but this is a positive boost for Lennon and the player. Arzani is an exciting youngster and, if he gets back to his best, he could provide a mid-season spark.
The Australia international, 20, is highly-rated by Man City but Celtic fans have not seen enough of his ability. Whether he can break into this side after his ACL injury remains to be seen.
