Reports in Spain this week are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing in Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos this summer.
El Desmarque is reporting that Tottenham are keen on a deal for the player, whose position at Real has been called into doubt with Zinedine Zidane not seemingly a fan. The report suggests they are the ‘main players’ in the transfer hunt for Ceballos.
So far, that would all add up for Tottenham. Ceballos is the sort of player Mauricio Pochettino would want to improve his midfield options and the 22-year-old Spanish international would certainly be an exciting addition.

However, the report then suggests the price-tag involved. Tottenham would, apparently, have to spend between €40 and €50 million for the player. That means a maximum overall fee of around £43.9 million.
That would be a club record transfer for Tottenham Hotspur for a player that Real Madrid, it seems, have no interest in keeping.
Tottenham are never going to pay that much for a player Real Madrid have essentially put a for sale sign on. Even the lower end of the spectrum, £35 million, will be too much as far as Daniel Levy is concerned.
If the figure started getting toward £25 million, then Tottenham would have to take an interest in the midfielder. Until then, it is hard to see Levy signing off on such an expensive deal.
