Arsenal knocked Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup last night after a penalty shootout at Anfield. The Gunners edged through 4-3 after a goalless draw on Merseyside.

One man who shone during the game was Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos who produced an eye-catching display.

The central midfielder has been working hard to get into Mikel Arteta’s team since rejoining the club on loan from Real Madrid for a second time.

Ceballos has started twice since returning to the Emirates Stadium, with a further two appearances coming from the bench.

He is firmly a fan favourite in North London and after last night’s good win he took to Twitter to speak of his delight at progressing in the cup.

Arsenal were drawn to play Manchester City in the next round shortly after the victory over Liverpool.

Having won the FA Cup last season it would seem as though there has been a mentality shift at the Emirates Stadium.

For too long mediocrity has been the acceptance for the red half of North London but under Arteta change is on the way.

Winning trophies used to be a habit for Arsenal but they have lost their way somewhat.

Arteta enjoyed a quality campaign at the end of last season and this time he will hope to improve once again.

With players like Ceballos in the team and new signings Willian and Gabriel doing good things, there is no reason why they can’t kick on.

Arsenal will fancy their chances of upsetting City in the quarter-finals and on current form there’s no reason why they won’t.

Ceballos made 37 appearances for the Gunners last season, scoring two goals.
