‘Dangerous’: Jamie Carragher blown away by 26-year-old Everton man’s display v West Ham United
The Toffees picked up their first win of the new season thanks to an excellent finish by Neal Maupay in the 54th minute.
Lampard’s men are now unbeaten in their last five games and are looking a tough side to beat.
And former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher was seriously impressed by Gray’s display against David Moyes’ side.
Carragher blown away by Gray
Gray caused problems for Hammers man Vladimir Coufal all afternoon and Carragher named him the ‘best attacking player’ on the pitch after a moment in the 63rd minute.
The winger picked up the ball and skipped past Coufal, before putting a dangerous ball across West Ham’s box.
And Carragher feels an Everton player should have been in the box to meet the cross.
“He’s been dangerous all day,” Carragher said while co-commentating on Sky Sports today.
“He did that to Coufal very early in the game as well, there’s no doubt he’s got the pace and the trickery to go past him.
“He puts it into a brilliant area as well. You just want someone to come in at that back post.
“He’s been by far, certainly the best attacking player on the pitch.”
Carragher also went on to name Gray the Man of the Match, ahead of three other Toffees players.
He said: “There could’ve been three or four for Everton. The two centre-backs [Tarkowski and Coady], [Alex] Iwobi in midfield as well. But I’m going to give it to Demarai Gray.
“It hasn’t been easy for any attacking players on the pitch as it’s been that sort of game. But he’s the one who has really stood out.”
Gray has been a standout performer for Everton since making the switch from Leicester City last year.
The English winger has put in some dazzling displays and provides a real threat on the counter for Everton.
