Daniel James has said that he is ‘proud’ to make his Leeds United debut after coming on as a substitute against Liverpool at the weekend, following his move from Manchester United.
Debut made
James came on for Leeds when they were down to 10 men and 2-0 down in the contest.
The Welshman was, therefore, unable to have much of an impact on the game in an attacking sense.
But he was still happy to have made his first appearance for Leeds and also found time to wish Harvey Elliott well, after his serious injury.
Into the starting team?
James’ role as an impact substitute is unlikely to last for too long.
It is widely expected that the rapid wide-man will come into Leeds’ starting line-up sooner rather than later.
Leeds are in need of a spark after failing to win any of their first four matches, and James could provide them with that.
His inclusion could also see Raphinha move inside to a number 10 position, which is an exciting prospect for Leeds fans.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Friday night.
