Dan Ashworth has told The Times that Bruno Guimaraes is a top player and Newcastle United do not want to sell the midfielder amid interest from Real Madrid.
Bruno has been one of the stars of the season in the Premier League this term.

The Brazilian whetted the appetite for what was to come with a bright first few months on Tyneside. Of course, he more than played his part in helping Eddie Howe’s side maintain their top-flight status.
Newcastle do not want to sell Bruno
But he appears to have gone to another level this term.

The 24-year-old has been absolutely outstanding for the Magpies. He has been everywhere, pushing Newcastle well into the top-half of the table.
And he found the back of the net twice at the weekend as they thrashed Brentford 5-1 at St James’ Park. With that, there is interest in the midfielder.
Real Madrid have got their eye on the former Lyon star. And while Ashworth admitted that player sales may be required to help Newcastle comply with Financial Fair Play, he insisted that they do not want to lose their star player.
“Absolutely I do not want to sell Bruno,” he told The Times. “He is a top player and a really important part of this journey. Again, I go back to, we try to manage our talent properly, we try to give them the part of the journey, part of the vision, part of building something and the connecting with the city and the supporters you’ve seen.”
Bruno will not be thinking too much about his future unless Newcastle receive a significant offer in one of the coming windows.
But he would not have moved to Newcastle if he was not prepared to stick around for a long time.
And the Magpies have now got the platform to really kick on from. With that, there may be some hugely exciting signings on the way in the future.
Obviously, Newcastle will want to hold onto Bruno for as long as possible. But it says everything about the work they have done in the market that they now have a player wanted by Real Madrid.
