Ryan Fraser has told Newcastle’s website there are no days off under Eddie Howe, as there was under Steve Bruce – and Newcastle fans have reacted.
Fraser, 27, was used as a right wing-back on the flank of a 3-4-3 system against Arsenal – starting the game, after being a sub against Brentford.
The winger is one of three players that have previously worked with Howe, at Bournemouth. Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie did, too.
Quite clearly, Howe has got his Newcastle side working much harder than Bruce’s did. Playing on the front foot, and being more involved in training.

Newcastle winger Fraser discussed the changes made in training between Howe and Bruce – stating that the work has been increased with Howe.
“Before lads would just go in after an hour of training,” Bruce said. “Even after two hours they will grab you and say: ‘No, no we’re doing this today’.
“The place is a lot happier, I don’t want to say anything about the previous, it’s disrespectful. No days off with this gaffer. Out on the pitch again today.
“Straight away after Arsenal, he looked at what we could have done better. You could see him on the plane on his laptop. Straight away he’s on it.”

Fraser on Howe and Bruce: What do Newcastle fans think?
Many are aware that there has been a change in intensity under Howe. But that was always going to happen, there needed to be a change.
Newcastle look dangerous again. Joelinton should have won them the match against Brentford, and they had chances at Arsenal.
On Tuesday night, they play host to Norwich and it is a game they simply have to win. Dean Smith’s Norwich have been resurgent of late.
Newcastle fans discussed Fraser’s comments on Howe and Bruce – and think they are utterly “damning” in the director of the former boss.
