'Currently on Merseyside': Fabrizio Romano shares exciting transfer update for Liverpool fans
Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Netherlands international Cody Gakpo.
The Reds have moved quickly for the PSV Eindhoven star, as per the Dutch club’s statement on Monday.
“PSV and LFC have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo,” they wrote.
“The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently, where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer.”
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on the state of play regarding Gakpo and Liverpool.
At this point, it’s just a matter of time before the all-important announcement and related media content comes out.
And according to Romano, Gakpo is currently on Merseyside for the main part of his medical ahead of joining Liverpool.
The deal will be completed soon, with the player penning an Anfield contract until 2028, added the transfer insider.
Liverpool appear to have done it again. Last year, they swooped for Luis Diaz ahead of Tottenham. Now, it looks as though the Reds have beaten Manchester United to Gakpo.
Just a few days ago, there were suggesting that the Red Devils were closing in on the player, who in turn was eager to join the Old Trafford outfit.
It’s not the first time that transfer predictions have ended up wide of the mark. Barring any potential late medical-related issues, Gakpo is Liverpool-bound.
Fair play to the Reds. In the space of 12 months, they’ve revamped their front line with three players aged 25 and under.
