Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is hopeful of adding to his current squad this summer as the Ibrox side prepares for another Scottish title battle next season.

Rangers have therefore been linked with bringing a host of new names to Ibrox, including striker Lyndon Sykes.

The Australian-born striker has impressed Rangers throughout the 2019-20 season. The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists for his current club and a move to Ibrox has been mentioned as possible in recent weeks.

However, his current boss Gary Holt insists there has yet to be any transfer approach from Rangers or any other club for his main striker.

The Livingston boss is quoted by BBC Sport as making it clear that 6ft 2ins bruiser Dykes is not yet the subject of serious transfer interest. However, he also made it clear that the club would be willing to move Dykes on if a bigger club made a move.

“We have had no conversations with anybody regarding it. But everyone knows if you come here and do well, you will move on as long as it’s right for this club.

“He knows what we are doing, he knows where he wants to get to. But he’s got to do it for us.

“And if he improves on the performances he gave last season, who knows who will come knocking?”

Rangers fans can therefore take the good news from Holt’s statement. Whilst at present there appears to be no pressing interest in a move, any reasonable bid would likely be accepted.

So it seems it is only a matter of making a move if Rangers really do want Dykes to become a fixture at Ibrox next season.
