Crystal Palace would be misguided in their pursuit of unproven winger Ajdin Hrustic

Last week, the Mirror reported that Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace were interested in signing 22-year-old Gronigen winger Ajdin Hrustic in January.

However, Palace would be misguided in pursuing the unproven Hrustic, as the youngster has no Premier League experience and is hardly setting the Eredivise on fire.

The once-capped Australian international has made 34 appearances in the Dutch top flight to date, scoring two goals and registering two assists.

This season, Hrustic has played 11 times, scoring none and adding a singular assist for Gronigen.

Although the winger’s career is still extremely young, these attacking statistics are underwhelming considering the lax defensive standards the Eredivise is known for.

If Hrustic can barely play a role in goals in Holland, what makes Crystal Palace think he can help the Eagles stay in the Premier League?

Roy Hodgson’s side have found attacking ingenuity hard to come by this season, scoring just eight goals in their first 13 matches.

And Palace know all too well the dangers of splashing the cash on a wasteful attacker in January: last winter’s signing Alexander Sorloth has yet to score a Premier League goal for the club.

Although 22-year-old winger Ajdin Hrustic may have the potential to succeed in England one day, Crystal Palace should decide against pursuing the inexperienced Gronigen man in the January transfer window.
