Crystal Palace want £45 million up front for talented defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, according to Sky Sports.
They report that United have seen a second bid rejected, because it was worth £35 million now and £15 million extra in add-ons.
That total figure is apparently acceptable to Palace, but they want £10 million more up front – which would naturally strengthen their own attempts to get a replacement in.
United likely have that kind of money despite not being in next season’s Champions League but it remains to be seen if they’ll go back in with a third bid after hearing Palace’s demands.
Wan-Bissaka is an outstanding talent and would be a serious loss for Crystal Palace, but having £45 million in the transfer kitty would not only allow Roy Hodgson to secure a replacement of the right quality but also bolster the rest of his squad as well.
The report says that Wan-Bissaka does want to move to Old Trafford but won’t agitate for a switch or put in a transfer request.
It seems as if United and Palace may well be moving closer in their negotiations and with plenty of time remaining in the transfer window, the youngster may yet be on the move.
