Crystal Palace predicted XI versus Tottenham: Who Patrick Vieira will start?

Crystal Palace take on Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, looking for their first win of the new Premier League season.

But what starting XI will Patrick Vieira opt for against Spurs?

In this piece, we take a look at the most likely starters for the Eagles.

Defence looked shaky against West Ham

In goal, Vincente Guita has looked very assured since he first stepped into the position back in December 2018. So he is an obvious starter.

It is the defence that has raised eyebrows. The south Londoners have looked fairly shaky in each of their three Premier League games.

In all fairness, Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen are trying to build a partnership. The pair are allowed a few games before they are judged. And the duo look very comfortable on the ball, hence why they should start against Spurs.

Tyrick Mitchell has been prone to switching off, especially against West Ham before the international break. But, as the only out-and-out left-back, he has to start.

Joel Ward may not be the most attacking full-back but, with Tottenham likely to dominate proceedings, a more defensive right-back will be needed.

Gallagher has added another dimension

Let’s start off with the Eagles’ best player so far this season: Conor Gallagher.

After a brace against David Moyes’ side, the on-loan Chelsea man is an easy choice this weekend. He adds another dimension to the side and will be a big factor this weekend.

James McArthur has reached 33. But he still has the engine of a player in his mid-20s.

His endless running and defensive nous have ensured he’s Vieira’s captain, making him indispensable.

It’s Cheikhou Kouyate who is the most worrying of the trio. He is far from assured on the ball and, after a season at centre-half, that is expected.

£6m Will Hughes would be the better choice in place of the Senegal international.

Edouard signing means Crystal Palace finally have a potent goal-scorer

Finding a regular supply of goals has been a struggle for Palace.

Jordan Ayew, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Christian Benteke have all failed.

However, with the arrival of Odsonne Edouard, Crystal Palace finally have a potent finisher.

The Frenchman struck 86 times in 179 games for Celtic; a display of his finishing prowess.

Expect him to be flanked by Wilfried Zaha and Ayew, who will provide the opportunities on the counter-attack.

Crystal Palace predicted XI vs Tottenham (4-3-3): Guaita; Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Gallagher, Hughes, McArthur; Zaha, Edouard, Ayew
