‘Good signing’: Crystal Palace fans react as Gary Cahill signs on a free transfer

Crystal Palace added some experience to their defensive ranks yesterday by completing a deal for ex-Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

The deal was announced on the club’s official website and the centre-back will link up with his former England boss Roy Hodgson.

Despite being 33-years-old, the additional of Cahill represents a coup for the Eagles. He has won pretty much all there is to win during his time with Chelsea, including the Champions League.

Cahill boasts 60 England caps during his career and arrives at Selhurst Park with 349 Premier League appearances under his belt.

Given that the Eagles have lost Aaron Wan-Bissaka and could lose Wilfried Zaha, supporters will hope he isn’t the last arrival this summer.

Following Cahill’s decision to join Palace, supporters were keen to welcome his arrival on Twitter.

After a summer of upheaval, the vast majority of supporters were delighted to finally see the club land a player of a certain quality.
