Crystal Palace fans were unimpressed by Sorloth’s miss on international duty

Roy Hodgson must have seen something in Alexander Sorloth that made him think he could add something to the Crystal Palace attack in January, but it is yet to come out.

On the one hand, it could be argued that is because Hodgson has not handled the Norwegian striker particularly well from a man-management point of view.

He kept playing Christian Benteke up front even when the Belgian was not scoring and now he is injured, Sorloth is still playing second fiddle to makeshift strikers in the shape of Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend.

On the other, it could be said that Sorloth has simply flattered to deceive. He does not look settled in English football and when he has had opportunities in the team, he hasn’t taken them. Missing that late chance against Tottenham last time out is a prime example.

Sorloth went off on international duty this week and it would have been a major boost if he could have rediscovered his goalscoring touch with his countrymen but that was not to be the case.

Instead, he missed a glaring opportunity to score and get back on the goal trail. So we’ve taken a look at the reaction of the Palace fans…
