Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Andros Townsend – and some Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have responded by claiming they wouldn’t mind getting rid of him.
Townsend, 29, is an attacker that as it stands will see his contract with Palace expire at the end of the season.
He’s a left-footed winger that prefers to cut inside from the right flank, and he’s being linked with a potential return to his former club Newcastle.
According to the Chronicle, Newcastle are looking for out of contract players as potential targets.
The report states that soon-to-be free agent Townsend is someone they are interested in bringing back to St James’ Park.

Townsend scored four goals in 13 games during his brief spell with the Magpies earlier in his career, and since exiting has made 178 appearances for Palace.
For Newcastle, it’s interesting to hear that a selection of Palace supporters on social media believe offloading him makes sense this summer.
The 13-time capped England international certainly isn’t the exciting youngster he was or as quick, but he’s got a great left foot with incredible technique and delivery.
It’s fair to say Steve Bruce’s current Newcastle squad is lacking in attacking firepower.
