Gary Cahill is a weakness

Chelsea have been formidable at the back and they gave nothing away at the back again this afternoon. However, Gary Cahill had some nervy moments and looks to be a real weakness at the back. He doesn’t look comfortable when he is put under pressure in possession, while he backtracks when opposing attackers run at him, which is a concern. The Englishman has made several errors this season and teams are now targeting him.

It is a concern for Chelsea as a team is only as strong as their weakest link and in tight matches such as these, it is always a risk that a mistake will cost them. Cahill is becoming a problem for Conte as he hasn’t convinced, despite Chelsea being impressive as a team. They will be in the market for more players in January and another centre back could become a priority. They are set to have Kurt Zouma return soon, but even so, with the team now playing three centre backs, they need to have more cover in the squad.
