Former Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant has now claimed that the Gunners are going to collapse after the World Cup on TalkSPORT.
Mikel Arteta’s men have got off to a dream start to the season and sit top of the Premier League. The Gunners have won nine of their opening 10 games, with their only loss coming at Old Trafford last month.
The young Arsenal side have been boosted by summer signings like Gabriel Jesus and returning youngster William Saliba. Arteta’s men look like the real deal at the moment but Pennant thinks they’ll collapse after Christmas.
The now pundit was once the youngest ever player to play for Arsenal after making the switch to north London from Notts County. But he is not backing his old side to maintain a push for the Premier League title.

Pennant claims Arsenal are going to collapse
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Pennant says Arsenal will slow down after they return to action after the World Cup.
“I think Arsenal after Christmas will cookie crumble,” Pennant said.
“Like they did the year before to drop out of the Champions League spot.”
Arteta’s men were in a commanding position to qualify for Champions League football last season. But they eventually lost out to their bitter rivals Tottenham.
There seems to be a different feel around Arsenal this season though, especially after adding players like Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Jason Cundy also made a bizarre analogy about Arsenal’s start to the season, comparing Arteta’s side to an ‘annoying fly’ on TalkSPORT.
“But Arsenal are there. They’re annoying, Arsenal, at the minute,” he said.
“I said to the boys in the office, Arsenal are like that fly. You know that fly in summer?
“When you’ve got the windows open, the door is open but he just flies around the house at a lazy pace and you’re like ‘come on, go’.
“Then you go into the other room and you think he’s gone, then he follows you in and he flies past you! Open the windows, try to get rid of them. Arsenal are like that annoying fly.”
Arteta certainly won’t mind that his side are ‘annoying’ pundits at this moment in time, especially a Chelsea fan like Cundy.
It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal can keep up their brilliant start to the season. Arteta’s squad is slightly thin in areas of the pitch, particularly out wide and in the middle of the park.
But barring an injury crisis, the Gunners look set to fight for a place towards the top end of the table.
