Morgan Feeney joined Tranmere Rovers during the January transfer window with the Everton man looking to get some games under his belt.
Disaster has struck for the youngster, however, as he picked up a hamstring injury during his debut against Bolton Wanderers.
The 20-year-old will see his contract at Goodison Park expire in the summer and a decent loan spell might have earned him a new one.
Of course, there’s no saying that the Toffees might still offer him something.

It does, however, look highly likely that he could well leave during the summer now injury has curtailed his progress for two months.
Feeney is a no-nonsense central defender who has made 12 appearances in David Unsworth’s under-23 team this season.
In 2016, Unsworth told the Liverpool Echo that Feeney was from the Dave Watson school of defending.
That was indeed high praise for the youngster but he hasn’t really progressed as some might have thought.
Feeney has played twice for the first-team. He played in two Europa League games back in 2017 but hasn’t threatened since.
Although he’s had the potential he’s never really looked close to getting a sniff of action in the senior ranks since.
This injury is a really cruel blow but it could end his Everton dream.
At 20, he isn’t exactly an emerging talent any more and the Toffees might look to release him at the end of the season.

Everton supporters have a proud association with their young emerging talents.
They like nothing more than seeing an academy graduate step up and take the first-team by storm.
For Feeney, that dream may have died when he picked up his injury and time will tell what the future holds.
