'Conte just has to choose': Gold says Tottenham can expect to see 'amazing' player very soon
Tottenham have been going along fairly nicely under Antonio Conte but there is no doubting the Italian would like to have some of his key players back. One of those key players, is Cristian Romero.
The Argentinian was a big-money summer signing for Spurs. After a sluggish start, Romero started to grow into his role in the heart of the Spurs defence and was starting to look in fine nick before injury struck. Since then, Eric Dier has stepped up to the plate, while others have struggled in patches.
Romero, then, could well do with coming back into the fold ASAP if Conte and Tottenham are to have success. He’s recently returned to light training. But according to Football.London’s Spurs reporter, Alasdair Gold, things are ramping up for Romero.
“Romero should be back soon. He’s taking on more and more of a part in training sessions and now Conte just has to choose the right moment to bring him back,” Gold said on his FL live Q&A earlier today.
Romero was the big capture of the summer for Spurs. He cost more than £40m but Fabio Paratici is hoping he will be worth the outlay.
TBR’s View: Romero Return A Huge Boost For Tottenham
The key for Tottenham in getting success under Conte is to give him the right tools for the job. That means the best players they can get, and the best current players staying fit. Romero, on evidence, is one of Spurs’ best.
Having Romero back in the coming weeks will be massive. There are some big games coming up for Tottenham and it could really make or break their season. Big characters and big players will be needed, and Conte will be counting on Romero to deliver.
Branded an ‘amazing player’ and an ‘animal’ by teammate Pierluigi Gollini, Spurs will need all those characteristics to come to the fore in order to win games.
