Video: Tottenham player spotted in full training in Qatar after ruling himself out for Conte
Tottenham fans were more than bit miffed last weekend when Cristian Romero was spotted running with Argentina, and it appears his miracle recovery has continued.
The Spurs defender had missed the last few games for Antonio Conte’s side through injury. Many believed it would be an injury capable of seeing him miss some of the World Cup. However, it appears that is very much not the case.
Romero training fine with Argentina
Romero, once again, has been spotted looking perfectly fine in training with Argentina. In a video posted by Sky Sports (via Football Daily), Romero can be seen taking part in the full warm-up alongside his teammates. As can be picked up on pretty easily, there seems to be no restrictions in movement for the Tottenham ace.
Argentina are going into the tournament as one of the favourites to win. Currently on a 35 game unbeaten run, the South American side are hotly tipped to do well. Of course, Lionel Messi is the story, given it will likely be the last chance the PSG star gets to win a World Cup.
TBR’s View: Tottenham fans right to feel aggrieved
It does stink a bit, this. Naturally, Romero would have been doing all he could to be fit for the World Cup. It’s a once in a lifetime chance for some players and he is entitled to want to play.
However, the fact he’s gone from being nowhere ready to suddenly perfectly fine, is an odd one for Spurs fans to digest.
Romero is a class act and the Tottenham defence looks lost when he doesn’t play. With him missing, they are a worse team and it begs the question of whether he could have featured or not.
Argentina won’t care one jot. They have a fully fit defender now. But Tottenham fans, quite rightly, will ask questions.
