Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero claims he has already warned Harry Kane and Eric Dier ahead of a potential World Cup clash between Argentina and England.

The Three Lions and the Albiceleste are both in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. England take on France in what will be a hugely difficult game, while Romero’s Argentina face the Netherlands.

The World Cup bracket has come out in such a way that if England and Argentina win their next two games, they’ll face each other in the final of the competition. (CBS Sports)

That would see Kane come up against Romero, and the Argentine has revealed that there’s no way he’ll take it easy on the Englishman – even though they’re mates at club level.

The defender even went on to say that he would ‘hit’ Kane and Dier if he has to, in order to win the World Cup.

Speaking about Kane, Romero told FootballersLives.tv, as quoted by The Daily Mail: “I would be very sorry for him if I came up against him. I would hit him with a lot. When I play for my team I want to kill, in a good way, the rival opponent.

“I have said to Harry “for sure I’ll tear it up. Unfortunately, he plays for his team. I play for mine. Both [Kane] and Dier, I have told them, if I face you, I am sorry for you, but if we must hit each other, it’s going to be like that.

“When he is serving for England and I am serving for Argentina, I don’t have any teammates, no friends, nothing. He is for his team and I am for mine. So unfortunately, I would not be friends in that match.

“My objective and the other 10 who are on the field are the same to kill the rival opponent, in a good way, to die for our shirt.”

Romero’s mentality is exactly the same when he plays for Tottenham, which is why he’s a huge fan favourite.

The Argentine had a poor outing against Saudi Arabia at the start of the World Cup, but he has been excellent in every game he has played since.

As for Kane, he will not care one bit. The Englishman has faced some of the best defenders in the world over the years and has done well against most of them. He’ll try to do the same against Romero if they face each other.

It will be interesting to see what will happen if England and Argentina both reach the final. The battle between Kane and Romero will certainly be a magnificent watch.
