Tottenham star Cristian Romero reacts on Twitter as Argentina reach World Cup Final
Tottenham star Cristian Romero is a World Cup finalist. The centre-back was in action last night as Argentina battered Croatia 3-0 to claim a place in the showpiece finale.
The Spurs man has grown as the tournament has progressed. In truth, he was rarely tested last night and ultimately it was a walk in the park.
Argentina have bounced back emphatically at the tournament. They were the laughing stock in the early stages when they were stunned by Saudi Arabia.
They lost that game 2-1, with plenty discounting their chances of winning the tournament. With Lionel Messi in their team, however, there is always a chance.
After last night’s game, Romero took to Twitter. He claimed he was proud of his teammates and suggested that they will continue to give everything for their country.
Romero has enjoyed a somewhat tough time of things since arriving at Spurs from Atalanta in 2021, initially on loan.
He did do enough for Tottenham to part with £42.5 million but injuries have robbed him of a chance to really shine.
Romero has made just eight appearances in the Premier League during 2022/22 and has played 43 times in total for the club.
Romero reaches World Cup Final and Tottenham will hope he returns full of confidence
This is a remarkable achievement and Messi now has a genuine chance to finish his career with the biggest prize of them all.
For Romero, he can help him achieve iconic status. Argentina will be looking for a third World Cup on Sunday when they face either France or Morocco.
The challenge after to that is to get into his stride for Tottenham. Antonio Conte’s team have some uncertainties defensively and having Romero available would help.
On his day he’s a fine defender. As a result, it’s no surprise to see that Argentina have now performed well with Romero at the heart of their rearguard.
