Tottenham fans won’t be too impressed by seeing a post from Cristian Romero this evening from the Argentina training camp.

The impressive Spurs defender has missed the last few fixtures with a hamstring injury. However, he has been given the nod for Argentina’s squad in Qatar. The South American side will hope Romero comes back from injury in time to play a big part in proceedings in the Middle East.

Of course, Tottenham fans will be wishing their players well. But Romero, taking to Twitter a few hours ago, will have some supporters feeling confused.

Romero posted two pictures of himself taking to the training pitch in Argentina gear. Accompanied by the caption Cuanto te extrañaba which translates into ‘how I’ve missed you’, Romero is clearly delighted to be with his country.

Of course, there is no shame in Romero being excited by the prospect of playing for Argentina in the World Cup.

However, this won’t be sitting well with some at Spurs. Romero has clearly been too injured to play a part in the last few weeks. In those games, Spurs have leaked nine goals. One could easily argue that had Romero been in there, then those goals wouldn’t have come.

TBR’s View: Romero post seems ill-judged for Tottenham fans

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Cristian Romero wanting to do well with Argentina. Most Argentinians love playing for their country and their passion is what makes them so exciting to watch.

However, given he hasn’t played for weeks and was ruled out against Leeds, this does stink a bit.

Romero could have left this a little longer. For Spurs fans, it leaves more questions than answers and a quick glance into the comments suggests some aren’t happy. Hopefully, he gets back fit and comes back playing well for Spurs.

But if he plays, then gets re-injured, some serious questions will be asked.
