Cristian Romero has provided hope he should return from injury when Tottenham Hotspur host Sporting tonight.

Romero missed training out on the grass yesterday ahead of the huge Champions League clash, along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

He was apparently in the gym working hard and he could well be fit to play this evening despite missing the game with Newcastle.

Romero posted on his Instagram story about the game, suggesting that he is now going to be involved and not absent again.

Romero could return from injury against Sporting

Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has also claimed on Twitter that Romero will be fine to play in the game.

He claims that Romero just has muscle fatigue, and that would explain why he was not out training with the team but could do a gym workout to prepare for the game.

Romero looks set to come back into the team for this one and it seems most likely he would come in for Davinson Sanchez on the right of the back three.

Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports said he spotted Antonio Conte going mad at Sanchez on Sunday.

“Conte was screaming at Sanchez to go and press, but he doesn’t know who he’s pressing,” Carragher said.

“He doesn’t know what he’s doing because it was so good to watch Newcastle play in between them.

“Sanchez comes flying out because the manager has told him to, but there is no panic [from Newcastle], and Sanchez finds himself in midfield and they kept switching the ball and forcing the back five [out].”
