Cristhian Stuani’s post Middlesbrough form is getting ridiculous

The Uruguayan has been in fine form since leaving Middlesbrough.

Lionel Messi? Luis Suarez? Karim Benzema? All likely bets, but none of these men currently top the goalscoring charts in La Liga. Usually, that would mean Cristiano Ronaldo sits at the summit. But he has up and left for Juventus and Italian football.

Middlesbrough fans will struggle to believe who tops the standings. With eight goals, the same as former Liverpool flop Iago Aspas, Cristhian Stuani tops the standings. His goals have come at a rate of one every 84 minutes, which puts him top of the pile ahead of the Spanish international.

The Uruguayan is in fine form for Girona, as he was last season. The 32-year-old netted 21 goals in 33 games for the club last season.

Middlesbrough never saw such free-flowing goal-scoring form. He managed 16 goals in 67 games for the Teessiders. Now, that is not a poor return for a player often played out of position out wide, but certainly not as impressive as his stunning form in Spain.

What is now evidently clear is that Middlesbrough did not utilise his talents correctly. As an out-and-out centre-forward in La Liga, he is outscoring some of the best players in world football, in a lesser team.

Aitor Karanka certainly did not get the best out of this player at Riverside.
