Andrea Berta has done an amazing job since becoming Arsenal’s sporting director.
The Italian has made six new signings, three contract extensions and is still on the market looking to strengthen the squad.
The focus now, however, is on outgoings, and there are several players at Arsenal who need to be moved on before the transfer window closes.
One of them could cause a big issue now.
Oleksandr Zinchenko could be about to cost Arsenal millions
Oleksandr Zinchenko does not have a future at Arsenal.
The Ukraine international, branded as ‘crazy‘ for his personality by William Saliba, helped turn the Gunners into title contenders when he joined from Manchester City in 2022, and his influence behind the scenes deserves immense credit.
However, on the pitch, Zinchenko is nowhere near the top of Mikel Arteta’s pecking order – Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori, and even Jakub Kiwior are all ahead of him.
Jurrien Timber, who is naturally a right-back, is also preferred over the former Shakhtar Donetsk star on the opposite side.
Andrea Berta wants to sell Zinchenko in this window, but that is not proving to be easy.
TBR Football revealed that Zinchenko’s wages are proving to be a big problem for interested clubs, and now, the player himself could complicate things.
As we reported previously, Zinchenko is considering seeing out his contract at Arsenal – it expires in July 2026. The Athletic have backed that claim as well now.
That doesn’t just mean Arsenal will miss out on millions in transfer fees, but they will have to continue paying him £150,000-a-week for the next year.

Oleksandr Zinchenko could cost Arsenal the chance to sign Eberechi Eze
Arsenal have had an interest in Eberechi Eze for a long time.
The Crystal Palace star is expected to be on the move this summer, and many feel he is exactly what the Gunners need.
Arsenal want to sell players before they make a move for Eze, and that has already complicated things.
That’s because Tottenham have opened talks to sign Eze, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the player is keen on a move.
Now, if Zinchenko refuses to leave and sales of other players don’t progress either, Arsenal could miss out on Eze this summer. The Englishman joining Tottenham will definitely hurt.
