Luke Molyneux has found a new club days after leaving Sunderland. Hartlepool United have confirmed on the club’s official website that Molyneux has joined the club on a free transfer, penning a permanent deal.
Molyneux spent some time on loan at Hartlepool last season. During the first half of the campaign, Sunderland sent him to Gateshead, who also play in the National League.
The 21-year-old scored twice and provided five assists in 16 games at Gateshead. He then followed this up with two goals and three assists for Hartlepool.
Molyneux stirred up excitement at Hartlepool with some impressive performances on the wing. Pools fans are confident he can become even better this season.
After Molyneux’s confirmed departure and move to Hartlepool, Sunderland fans took to Twitter to send him messages. The local lad came through the ranks at Sunderland and played six senior games before his exit.
But he was allowed to leave to reignite his career elsewhere. At Hartlepool, he stays in the North East and rejoins Craig Hignett in a familiar environment. Here are some tweets from Sunderland fans wishing him well for the future.
