‘Couldn’t really run’: £40m Arsenal player could be playing through injury right now – journalist

Thomas Partey could be playing through an injury at the moment.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Charles Watts suggested that Partey may well be carrying a knock, stating that he’s noticed recently that the £40m midfielder has actually been struggling to run properly for Arsenal.

Watts couldn’t confirm Partey’s fitness situation, but he did make an interesting note that he did take a physio over to Ghana with him during a recent international break, adding more fuel to the idea that Partey may well be carrying something at the moment.

Partey may be injured

Watts gave his verdict on the midfielder.

“Whether he’s injured and carrying something I don’t know. But watching that game at the Etihad it looked like Partey couldn’t really run. It makes me think he may be carrying an injury. When he went over to Ghana he had the physio with him, he had to miss a game there because of injury, so maybe he is carrying something and that is limiting him,” Watts said.

Out of the team

Partey may well be carrying an injury, but it may not prove to be that big of an issue for Arsenal as the Ghanaian has already lost his place in the team for the time being.

Indeed, Jorginho has usurped Partey and become a part of the Gunners’ first-choice starting XI these days, and it’s fair to say that Partey may not be back in the team for a little while now.

After a commanding performance against Newcastle, its hard to make a case for dropping Jorginho, and if Partey is indeed struggling with an injury, this is a great chance to let him rest and recover.

Partey may have to take the summer off and go again next season.
