You may remember back in 2019 seeing Leeds United being fined £200,000 after Marcelo Bielsa sent someone to Derby County’s training ground without the Rams’ authorisation.
The incident became known as ‘Spygate’. And it seemed to divide many across the football world.

Some felt that Bielsa and Leeds deserved an incredibly strong punishment. Others wondered what the Whites had actually done to receive one of the most eye-watering fines handed out in recent years.
Certainly, it did seem to bring out the arrogant side of English football, with many seemingly overlooking many of the problems within this country while claiming that Bielsa needed to change his methods.
Spygate has proved to be a prominent subplot in the background whenever the two teams have met since the incident.

It did appear that Derby were set for the last laugh when they won the play-off semi-final between the pair in dramatic circumstances a few months later.
But of course, Leeds have kicked on since then. And it seemed fitting to many that it was Derby who applauded the Whites onto the Pride Park pitch in Bielsa’s side’s first game following their Championship title win in 2020.
The Rams now sit bottom of the second tier while Leeds are in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, it did not escape the attention of Leeds fans on social media when Derby announced on Twitter that they are hosting an open training session this month.

With that in mind, here is how some of the Leeds fans reacted to the news that Derby are hosting that open training session…
